Manchester, VT –
The sharing of stories, one person to another, is a hallmark of the
human condition. Factual first hand accounts by those who have battled
bravely and lived to tell the tale – survivor stories –
are arguably the most riveting, harrowing, yet ultimately life affirming
tales of all.
That’s why
the Komen Vermont-New Hampshire Race for the Cure is inviting survivors
of breast cancer to share their stories with others by emailing them
to info@vtnhkomen.org with “Survivor Story” as the subject
line.
“Before I
go on any kind of a road trip, I ask others if they’ve been to
that particular destination, I listen to their comments, and make my
own decisions from there,” says Debbie Hanson, breast cancer survivor
and Survivor Chair of the Komen Vermont-New Hampshire Race for the Cure.
“With breast
cancer it is no different. I reach out to courageous survivors who have
found themselves on this road before me. They understand that life is
precious, and are no longer afraid to live life to its fullest,”
Hanson says. “They see the world around them in new, and brighter
colors than before. They know what to watch out for on the road, where
the curves are, and how to avoid falling off the side.”
“My fellow
breast cancer survivors are a great inspiration to me. They shine with
hope. Hope that children, husbands and wives, parents and siblings will
not have to loose anyone to this disease ever again. Hope that there
will be a cure so that not one more woman or man will ever have to travel
down this road again. Please, join me in sharing our experiences with
others.”
All stories received
will be put online, in a special Survivor Stories section, at www.vtnhkomen.org.
